Understanding nature-based impacts in sport and why regeneration is important

How can we all support the natural and built environments and integrate regenerative practices to improve the health of our soils, waterways and forests and our places of play?

Next in the Sports Environment Alliance’s Beyond the Summit webinar series was “Understanding nature-based impacts in sport and why regeneration is important”

During the webinar, Annabel Sides, Regenerative Sports Practitioner and Founder of Green Planet Sport, showed why this is how it's possible to support both the natural and built environments to play and stay active.

Annabel outlined how change is happening at the policy level with a number of national and international frameworks. This includes the Australia’s Strategy for Nature 2019-2020 framework, the development of the government’s Nature Positive Plan: better for the environment, better for business plan and also work that is happening internationally through Caring for Nature.

Next we heard from Terry Muir, Co-founder and CEO of epar, outlined some innovative yet practical tools and strategies that many clubs and facilities such as golf clubs, football clubs and recreational facilities are using. These tools enable clubs to map their impacts, develop integrated solutions to manage and protect a site’s biodiversity as well as communicating what they’re doing and why to their members, spectators and visitors.
