Western United Football Club joins the #SEAFamily

The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is excited to welcome Western United Football Club (WUFC) to the #SEAFamily.

Competing in the national A-League competition, Western United FC is in its third season of existence, with the club proudly representing the people from the west of Victoria.

The club believes in working as a team, growing the game of football in the community, and embodying the aspirational, hard-working, and successful spirit of the people from the west.

Western United FC Chief Executive Officer Chris Pehlivanis explained that the club is working rigorously to give the football community in the west a strong identity.

“The Club is extremely proud of the environment in which it is situated in the west of Victoria and is eager to commit to the betterment of this area for the future.

“Western United recognises its potential to educate the greater public and empower people to make a difference, no matter how big or small, and will strive to do its part for the community and the broader global environment.”

One of WUFC’s current, major projects is the construction of a unique, world-class football stadium - set for completion in mid-2023. The new precinct will also house three training pitches, an elite sports medicine complex, indoor sports facility and an administration building.

In the design process, the club is considering a number of sustainability initiatives such as solar panels and roof water harvesting.

In welcoming WUFC to the #SEAChange, SEA CEO Dr Sheila Nguyen said that she is pleased to add the first soccer club to a growing family of #SEAMembers.

“We are grateful to grow our family of change-makers, who recognise the powerful role that sport can play in protecting our natural assets.

“The ambition, vision, and commitment of Western United FC will be instrumental in helping us protect our places of play for generations to come, and we look forward to supporting their environmental journey and celebrating all the good {sport & planet} work they do along the way.”

Welcome to the #SEAChange, WUFC!
