SEA partners with Victoria University

The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is proud to announce a new partnership with Victoria University (VU).

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), VU is committed to making a beneficial contribution to place-based planetary health initiatives through research, teaching and learning, and through the way the university works and engages with its communities and internally.

To contribute to future-proofing sustainable sport, VU has set a strategic priority to ‘build a more active Australia, achieving sporting excellence, safeguarding the integrity of sport and strengthening the national and global sport industry’.

“Victoria University is a dual-sector institution with a whole-of-institution commitment to sport and planetary health. The Sports Environment Alliance is a burgeoning, global leader and supporter of sport ‘to do more {for the world} with less {footprint}’ and was a stand-out organisation for VU to partner with,” Professor Andrew Stewart, Dean, College of Sport and Exercise Science said.

In welcoming VU to the #SEAFamily, SEA Chief Executive Officer Dr Sheila Nguyen explained that this partnership will play an important role in driving SEA’s mission to lead, educate and inspire SEA’s sport community members to learn, share, and act for a more sustainable and regenerative Australasia.

“We #envirolove partnering with value aligned organisations and institutions such as VU, as they can help our family best achieve the lightest {footprint},” Dr Nguyen said.

“VU’s incredible network of sport organisations and affiliates, as well as their strong engagement and commitment to serving its communities will help connect and amplify our #SEAMembers’ journeys in protecting the places where we play for generations to come through education, linking them to the wider sport and planet community and celebrating their good {planet} leadership and actions,” she concluded.

Welcome to the #SEAFamily, Victoria University!
