Tennis Victoria joins Sports Environment Alliance
Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is pleased to announce Tennis Victoria as the newest member to its sport organisation network of those committed to making a positive impact on the environment.
Tennis Victoria (TV) is the peak body for tennis in Victoria, with a purpose of having more people playing tennis, more often, for life, and recognises the need to support grassroots tennis clubs and venues to ensure they are sustainable and viable in the face of a changing natural environment.
Tennis Victoria’s Acting CEO, Belinda Kleverlaan said, ‘We’re pleased to be working with such a well-regarded organisation as SEA. The TV Strategic Plan to 2020 has an ambition of increasing education, and access to information, on the benefits of environmentally sustainable practices and cost savings through new technologies. We see membership of SEA as an important step in advancing our work in this area, in partnership with our 874 clubs and associations.
On welcoming Tennis Victoria to the Sports Environment Alliance network, SEA Executive Director, Dr Sheila Nguyen, said the organisation was committed to sharing knowledge and building relationships to enhance the sport industry’s engagement in the clean economy.
‘The Sports Environment Alliance is tremendously excited to have Tennis Victoria on board and committed to doing more in supporting tennis clubs and precincts to ensure the long term sustainability of future generations playing tennis,’ Nguyen said.
‘SEA’s mission is to lead, educate and inspire our sport community members to live, work, play and spectate more sustainably in Australasia, and having Tennis Victoria join us as an active participant of that movement is an exciting development for the SEA family.’
‘Extending the knowledge and networks of our members and partners, and improving their level of impact and influence are integral to the movement.’
