Sports Environment Alliance welcomes two Directors to the Board

Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is pleased to announce the election of two Directors, Fiona Young and Neil Dalrymple, following its recent AGM.

Neil, a returning director and Fiona, elected for the first time, bring extensive leadership experience in sport, community engagement and environmental sustainability. They will further SEA's focus on environmental leadership and advocacy in the sports industry.

Fiona joins the board as a highly experienced and strategic professional with over 20 years in the sport and not-for-profit sectors. She has expertise in leading large-scale projects, implementing strategic frameworks, and managing stakeholder relationships to achieve organisational objectives.

Fiona is the Places to Play Manager at Tennis Victoria, was the former CEO of Squash and Racquetball Victoria and has held leadership positions in netball and golf.

Fiona’s experience and commitment to sport and the environment will complement those of the Board as it continues to lead, educate the huge variety of organisations that make up the broad Australian sport system.

Neil Dalrymple has been re-elected to the Board after serving his first three year term. In that time Neil has been an active contributor to strategic and policy discussion and was a member of the Nominations Committee which managed the appointment of new CEO Adam Cheyne.

A seasoned executive in sports administration, Neil has dedicated his career to building strong community sports programs and improving organisational sustainability.

Neil has held senior leadership roles in sport including CEO of Bowls Australia and more recently CEO of World Bowls. Known for his collaborative approach Neil’s ongoing support for SEA’s efforts to build partnerships and promote environmentally conscious practices across all levels of sport will be highly valued.

“We’re delighted to welcome Fiona for the first time and Neil for the second time to the SEA Board,” said Margot Foster AM OLY, SEA Chair.

“Their combined experience and passion for sustainability and sport will be instrumental in our continued efforts to encourage responsible environmental stewardship by the sports sector. With their support, the Board and SEA Team, look forward to continuing to promote SEA’s mission with deep and lasting effect.

“I have no doubt that the Board, comprising Cam Vale, Amie Wallis, Cassandra Hadson, Sheila Nguyen, Melanie Robertson and Kieran Power will be delighted with Neil’s return and the addition of Fiona with the many strengths she brings”.

Ms Foster also thanked retiring Director Sandra Loader for her unwavering commitment to SEA over the past 6 years, not least her management of the Ambassador program and more recently as chair of the Nominations Committee. “Sandra is exactly the sort of director every board wants and needs to have and she will be missed”, said Ms Foster.
