Join SEA today - #noplanetnoplay

The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is a for purpose membership organisation focused on championing environmental leadership and advocacy of the sporting community.

The alliance advocates an environment where sport can thrive into the future.

A brief history

Born from a spark of an idea in the middle of a drought, SEA’s co-founders, Malcolm Speed AO and Dr Sheila Nguyen, started by asking the sports community how we can collectively mitigate climate change in order to protect the places where we play for future generations.

This powerful question marked the beginning of SEA’s work to grow a community, which would allow sport to be a leader and become, itself, nimbler to the changing climate.

Co-founded in 2015, SEA is now joined by 60+ organisations open enough to innovate and change and bold enough to act on integrity.

A global conversation

Today, SEA’s members, associate members, ambassadors, and partners are multiplying to represent Australia and New Zealand in the global conversation. SEA shares progress, the latest opportunities to engage in the circular economy, and hosts several events to connect with national and international peers, community, commercial, and other expert thought leaders.

The alliance takes pole position when it comes to the global conversation. SEA has contributed to a number of research and advocacy reports such as the Climate Council’s Climate Change and Sport Report and Game, Set, Match report. SEA also regularly presents at global industry meetings and forums.

A bold purpose

SEA is committed to do more {for the world} with less {footprint} so we can continue to have places to play:

  • SEA is a for purpose, membership organisation focused on supporting environmental leadership and advocacy of the sport community

  • SEA’s vision is to lead the sport industry’s circular economy engagement

  • SEA’s mission is to lead, educate, and inspire sport community members to learn, share, and act for a more sustainable and regenerative Australasia.

A collective effort

SEA is a growing community of change-makers, including:

  • SEA Members: Local community clubs, professional sport clubs, city councils, schools, state, and national sport associations that look after the places where we play.

  • SEA Associate Members: Organisations that are on their journey to making the world a better place through learning and collaborating with SEA and the wider sport community.

  • Friends of SEA: Individuals who care about what SEA cares about and want to learn more about how they can play their part in protecting the places where we play.

  • SEA Partners: Organisations and companies that care about regenerating our future, corporations that actively contribute to the clean economy, and others who support, advise, innovate, and incubate ideas for our family to grow into our clean future.

  • SEA Ambassadors: Proactive, passionate influencers who use their reach to advocate for #noplanetnoplay.

If you are ready to do more {for the world} with less {footprint}, so we have places to play for generations to come, join the movement today.
