SEA is pleased to announce the appointment of Margot Foster AM OLY as the new Chair of the Board of Directors.

Margot brings a keen interest in the health of the environment, and a diverse range of skills and experience to SEA, as it continues to lead, share, inform, encourage, and educate to protect the places where we play.

A lawyer by profession, Margot has over 30 years’ experience in sports administration and governance on a broad range of boards from the local to the international, both private and government.

She is an Olympian, having won a bronze medal – Australia’s first Olympic medal in women’s rowing – at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Margot explains that her unique background as an Olympian, a lawyer and an experienced non-executive director, give her a finely-honed understanding of team dynamics, high performance, attention to detail and excellence in all things.

“I am an effective leader and a natural problem solver, always focusing on the best and most effective outcomes for everyone with whom I work,” Margot says.

Margot will lead the board through completion of SEA’s current strategic plan 2019-2022, taking into account the tumultuous effects of COVID-19, and into its next growth phase.  She and the board will provide strategic direction and governance excellence for a thriving organisation with a highly engaged and action-orientated member community.

“I believe the health of the planet and the future of sport as we know it are inextricably linked.  I am excited to bring governance tools and leadership to the strong and committed board, as we work to achieve SEA’s organisation and strategic goals”.

Margot will step into her role as SEA’s new Chair, effective immediately.

Margot is welcomed to the SEA Family, which looks forward to a fruitful, successful, and productive future, where SEA continues to do more {for the world} with less {footprint}.

Thanks are also extended with the deepest gratitude to the inaugural and founding Chair Malcolm Speed AO and interim Chair and Director Peter Wearne. It takes a team to make the #SEA_theChange.
