SEA celebrates Green Sports Day 2020

On 6th October, we take a moment to celebrate the annual Green Sports Day and acknowledge the achievements of organisations that are using innovative approaches to tackle climate change through sports.

The inaugural Green Sports Day was declared by President Barack Obama during the Pittsburgh Penguins’ visit to the White House – shortly after they claimed the 2016 Stanley Cup.

In his statement, President Obama wrote: “On this inaugural Green Sports Day, let us rededicate ourselves to safeguarding the one planet we share and strive to encourage sports fans across the globe to do the same.”

It is more important than ever that we show a unified force in the sports greening movement, and {future proof} sustainable sport, so we can enjoy the places where we play for years to come.

How you can get involved

The best way to show your support, is to share the Green Sports Day message with your friends, your workplace or your sports club.

Let’s do more {for the planet} with less {footprint} and don’t forget to use the hashtag #GreenSportsDay in your social posts today!
