Katherine O’Regan joins SEA
Following the EOI process to identify a new CEO for SEA, the Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Katherine O’Regan.
SEA Chair Margot Foster AM OLY said that after a comprehensive and competitive selection process, the Board was delighted that Katherine accepted the offer to join the organisation.
“This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for SEA and the Board is looking forward to working with Katherine to ensure the organisation continues to meet the needs of a thriving, highly engaged, and action-orientated member community,” Margot said.
A Director with international and commercial experience herself, Katherine brings a keen interest in sport and the health of the environment, as well as a diverse range of skills and experience to SEA.
“Over the past seven years, SEA has gone from strength to strength, and I am pleased to join the SEA team to build on these achievements and drive the next stage of organisational growth,” Katherine said.
Katherine’s impressive track record in developing and implementing strategies that effect economic, social, and environmental outcomes, and her strong and long-standing relationships in sport, government, sustainability, and media, provide an ideal basis on which SEA can thrive.
“It is the perfect time to harness the opportunities across sport to be bold, brave and clear sighted, in order to preserve and conserve our planet, confirming SEA not only as a national but a global leader,” she said.
Katherine has begun her work with SEA, initially providing consultation services to review the foundations of SEA as a step to then using and applying her expertise to build and execute its planned next phase.
The Board thanks interim CEO Jack Peterson, who has been in the role for the past ten weeks, for ensuring business as usual for SEA, its members, and partners. Jack returns to his usual legal role with Melbourne City FC and remains SEA’s Governance, Compliance, and Legal Manager.
The Board also thanks everyone who submitted an expression of interest. The number of applications was testimony in and of itself of the important role that SEA holds in the sport industry and environment domain.
Once again, the Board is delighted to welcome Katherine to SEA as its Consultant CEO where as a team, including the highly regarded staff, everyone looks forward to a fruitful, successful, and productive future, where SEA continues to do more for the world with less footprint.
