SEA Welcomes Swamprats Cricket Club as Newest Member
The Sports Environment Alliance’s (SEA) network continues to grow following the announcement that the Swamprats Cricket Club (SCC) will join SEA as its newest member.
The SCC is a small, rural cricket club based on the beautiful south coast of Western Australia (WA). The club has a strong commitment to their people and the natural environment we share.
In committing to SEA, SCC Spokesperson Stephen Grimmer, said he believes that all sporting organisations from the grassroots to the elite level can have a positive impact on our environment.
“Regardless of size, all sports clubs and related entities have a role to play.” Grimmer said.
“Despite our Club’s small size, we will assure our facilities and competitions are sustainable and are available to the lifestyle choices of future generations.”
Grimmer also said that the SCC will aim to better its recycling methods and educate its members about the journey towards a cleaner future.
“The SCC will focus on improving our recycling practices at our iconic oval and club rooms, educating club and community members, and ensuring we promote the importance of sustainability across the sports sector in WA.” Grimmer said.
SEA Executive Director, Dr. Sheila Nguyen, said she welcomes the SCC to the family and looks forward to their bold ambition to change the WA sport mentality towards protecting the beautiful places where we play.
“We strive to protect the very future that our community needs, and the SCC is committed to leaving their own sustainable legacy off the field by educating their members and local community.”
“We are looking forward to sharing this journey with all clubs, large or small, and are confident there will be many things to celebrate about the sustainability efforts the SCC will engage for their club and in their community.” Dr. Nguyen excitedly commented.
