The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is excited to welcome Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA) as the newest member of the SEA family.

SLSSA is South Australia’s major coastal water safety, drowning prevention and rescue authority. In creating a safe environment both on and off South Australian beaches, SLSSA provides mateship, education and experience to their ocean loving community.

SLSSA joins SEA already leading on environmental sustainability. Their EcoSurf Advisory Group is steering their clubs in South Australia to become plastic free, while also encouraging action through community beach clean-up days and working with partners on dune rehabilitation. They are also passionate about educating their community, with EcoSurf Ambassadors teaching Nippers about marine ecology and looking after our beaches.

Upon joining SEA, Damien Marangon, Chief Executive Officer, says SLSSA looks forward to “learning from our sporting peers; other like minded organisations who play and work in outdoor environments.”

Marangon also acknowledges the relationship surf life saving clubs have with their natural environment and the responsibility they have to preserve these places of play:

“Surf Life Saving Clubs are custodians of the coastline. The beach is our second home, our playground and place of work; we have a responsibility to look after it.”

Welcome to the family, Surf Life Saving South Australia! We look forward to supporting your journey and celebrating all you do to protect our places of play for future generations.

If you’re ready to join our growing community of change makers, get involved here.
