SA Rugby celebrates contribution to country’s housing

SA Rugby has demonstrated the power of sport to drive social and environmental change by collaborating with CRDC SA to build 15 housing units in 2024. This initiative repurposed plastic waste collected at three major events hosted by SA Rugby and World Rugby last year, turning stadium waste into sustainable housing solutions.

By integrating recycled materials from stadium upgrades, SA Rugby is tackling critical social and environmental challenges, ensuring that the impact of sport extends beyond the field. This project highlights how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand to create lasting community benefits.

“This initiative is a testament to how sport can be a force for good,” said [Spokesperson Name, Title, SA Rugby]. “By working with CRDC SA, we’re not only reducing waste but also directly improving lives through sustainable housing solutions.”

The project aligns with SA Rugby’s broader commitment to sustainability, showcasing how the sporting industry can play a key role in addressing environmental concerns while supporting vulnerable communities.
