SEA welcomes Reservoir Sporting Club to the family

Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is excited to welcome Reservoir Sporting Club to the #SEAFamily.

Located just north of Melbourne, the club was founded in 1923 and is part of the Northern Football Netball League.

Reservoir Sporting Club President Tom Madden explained that the club is excited to join Sports Environment Alliance and a community of like-minded organisations.

“Sport at every level can play a role in creating greener and more environmentally friendly spaces,” he said.

Mr Madden continued to explain that Reservoir Sporting Club is just beginning its journey to educate and act in more environmentally friendly ways.

“We plan to start small and build on our impact and initiatives over time.

“We are advocating our local council to improve the environmental sustainability of our pavilion and will be introducing recycling bins and education material throughout the venue in 2022, to encourage more sustainable practices,” Mr Madden said.

He added that clubs can go through a lot of waste material and their facilities are often housed in older buildings, with less environmental features.

“We are passionate to contribute more positively to our local community and promote simple steps people can take to make a difference to their environmental footprint.

In welcoming Reservoir Sporting Club as a #SEAMember, SEA CEO Dr Sheila Nguyen added that organisations like this, are invaluable for the local community, offering refuge during challenging times, or encouraging a sense of connection with like-minded individuals.

“We #envirolove working with all organisations, from grassroots to the elite level, and believe that anybody has the power to do more {for the world} with {less footprint}.

“We look forward to working with the Reservoir Sporting Club to protect our places of play for generations to come,” she said.

Welcome to the #SEAChange, Reservoir Sporting Club!
