Introducing SEA's newest member – Queensland Cricket
Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is excited to welcome Queensland Cricket as a member of the SEA network.
Queensland Cricket is committed to protecting the places where we play through several key initiatives. They are developing a Sustainability Action Plan to guide long-term environmental efforts and collaborating with Containers for Change to reduce event waste and promote recycling within community clubs.
Adam Parox, Competitions & Sustainability Coordinator at Queensland Cricket, explains that becoming a SEA member will allow Queensland Cricket to lead in sustainability, access valuable resources, and collaborate with like-minded organisations to develop resilient facilities, reduce resource usage, and adapt to climate challenges.
"Joining SEA is essential for Queensland Cricket as we face increasing weather challenges like storms, flooding, cyclones, and extreme heat. These disruptions impact training, matches, and facility preparation, threatening the future of cricket in Queensland.
"By taking action now, we can protect and future-proof cricket, ensuring it remains a thriving and cherished part of Queensland's culture for generations to come," he said.
In welcoming Queensland Cricket to SEA, Adam Cheyne, CEO, said, "It was fantastic news when Queensland Cricket confirmed they will be joining as a member of SEA. Cricket is deeply woven into our communities, and Queensland Cricket's proactive steps towards environmental responsibility set a powerful example for both local and elite cricket in Queensland. I am confident Queensland Cricket's environmental initiatives will inspire others and strengthen our collective efforts to protect the places where we play."
Welcome to the #SEAChange, Queensland Cricket.
