Formula E VP Of Sustainability Julia Pallé Talks COP 28 And The Future Of Sports

Formula E’s 2024 Race Calendar kicks off in just over 50 days in Mexico City.

For the past ten years Formula E has tried to lead sports down a more environmentally-friendly path, with a specific focus on electric vehicle technology and air quality. Unlike other sports, the racing championship has environmental sustainability baked into its founding principles, giving it credibility and a competitive advantage as climate change accelerates.

Julia Pallé - Vice President, Sustainability boasts many accomplishments, including certifying the championship against ISO 20121 (sustainable events international standard), making Formula E the first ever motorsport to receive such certification.

With climate change accelerating, other sports must now also find ways to reduce emissions and adjust to the new climate reality. For example, World Athletics is working on air quality in stadiums, and Julia believes other sports should engage more with the community to create positive environmental change. In her words, “take care of them and they will take care of the planet.”
