Driving change with energy innovation at the Grand Prix™

Australia becomes the centre of the F1® universe this weekend with the 27th running of the race in Melbourne and as the excitement build for F1 fans, excitement is also building for fans of sustainability in sport.

This year, two ovals within Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit will be powered using the EODev GEH2 hydrogen-fuelled generators from Blue Diamond Machinery and Toyota Australia. First used during the FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2023, the technology saved approximately two tonnes of CO2 from being released over the four-day event when compared to traditional diesel generators.

These efforts are a vital part of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation’s commitment to consistent improvement and transformation.

Supporting climate initiatives set by both Formula 1® and the Victorian Government, the FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2024 is the only major event in Australia currently utilising EODev GEH2 hydrogen-fueled generators to power General Admission fan areas.
