City of Melbourne Bowls Club joins the Sports Environment Alliance
The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is excited to welcome the City of Melbourne Bowls Club (City Bowls) as the newest member of the SEA family.
Founded in 1866 as West Melbourne Bowling Club, City Bowls is a club steeped in history. Located in the heart of the stunning Flagstaff Gardens, City Bowls offers public and private bowling rinks and a beautiful, light-filled function room for hire.
City Bowls has a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, having recently installed a commercial composter to minimise waste, with a goal of reducing waste to landfill by 70%. The club is also committed to moving away from disposable plates and cutlery, implementing a no disposable plate policy and asking event organisers to use reusable cutlery and crockery for events. On top of all of this, their beautiful, state-of-the-art clubhouse is 6-star energy rated.
Upon joining SEA, Zac Potier, Club Manager, said City Bowls looks forward to connecting with the sport and sustainability movement and “becoming part of a like-minded sporting community.”
On welcoming City Bowls to SEA, Alex Wylde, Membership Coordinator, said “the Sports Environment Alliance is extremely excited to welcome the City of Melbourne Bowls Club to our ever-growing family. We look forward to supporting your journey and celebrating all you do to protect our places of play for future generations.”
